60,000km Test

60,000km Test

1 year and 60,000kms for our test car

We are always pushing our products to the limits just to see what they can and can’t do. 12 months ago this 2011 Ford Fairmont Ghia had just past the 110,000Km mark when it came to our attention on how many Km’s this car drives each week which at that point in time was about 1500kms per week, sometimes more.

12 months on the car has past the 170,000km mark and time for us to have a really good look at the condition of the Hyperseal coating we put on. We had seen the car on and off during that time but it was just for a moment and it was usually plastered with roadworks mud and spattered insects or it had just come out of a automatic car wash and was looking like it was freshly coated with Hyperseal.

So looking at the numbers.

  1. The Average car gets driven 20,000kms per year and that is the top end number for the motoring.
  2. This Ford has therefore driven 3 years of Km’s and out getting hammered on country and city roads all within 1 year and usually not on the same roads.
  3. It was thought to have had over 50 car washes with 100% of them using harsh automatic carwash chemicals.

 The inspection

The car is a state rep’s car for the farming and hardware company called Fjord . We arranged for a visit and a wash with NDG Mega Gloss wash and a look, touch and feel of the paintwork. We also took the car to one of the local detailers for their opinion (truely unbiased opinions come from him)

But first before we washed

The car had taken a lot of large stone impacts on the Bonnet/Hood and there was a lot of insect splattering on the Bonnet and wing mirrors.

  1. Tar and other grime on the side doors
  2. After washing with Mega Gloss wash

60,000km Test 60,000km Test

After Washing with Mega Gloss wash

  1. All the grime and most of the insects came off with the washing
  2. The Mega gloss and super light refraction that Hyperseal imparts was still just as good as the day it was applied (the owner says that it looks back to new each time it is washed)
  3. We used NDG Bio Crystal magic to remove the remainder of the insects that were harder to remove and found that they had not compromised the Hyperseal protection and had just been baked on with the summer heated hot air flowing over them.
  4. We did a quick claybar on the bonnet and wing mirrors to remove any acid rain and diesel particle adhesions and as we had hopped for the car felt as smooth as it was shinny. (One of the features of Hyperseal is you can do spot repairs without special equipment or special skills).
  5. Once the inspection was over it was time to go out for a sunset photoshoot. (pics below)

The next test phase.

Considering that this car maybe sold within the next 12 months, it’s job is complete. For the effort the owner made in doing this long term test we will coat the car with a new layer of Hyperseal and this time we will do the rims which we didn’t get time to do 12 months ago. We will then ask the owner to take more photos of places he and his car go.

Summary

We are always surprised at how strong NDG Hyperseal is and here is an indisputable test that we had no influence over and the results are spectacular. The local detailer concurred with our observations pretty much work for word. Excellent. We are very thankful to Garry for doing this long term test.

RC Trophy Truck cuts loose

RC Trophy Truck cuts loose

Cutting loose is is a verbatim comment from the owner of this RC model of an electric powered Trophy Truck.

A kid in the neighbourhood came to us today and said he wanted to Nano his RC car to make it “Cut Loose” as he had heard that it makes old look new. Wow, this is a big statement from an under 10 year old boy. We certainly said yes you have come to the right place.

We did a photo shoot with the before both static and in action. Then we go to work on getting the job done.

Body removed and mega gloss wash, then a coat of Hyperseal. Simple but effective process.

We did notice that the gearbox sounded like it was dry running so we took a look and re-greased the gears and bushes and lubricated the drive shaft sliders.

Back together we did an after photo shoot and then hit the jumps and dirt for some action shots.

RC Trophy Truck cuts loose

Mission successful and another happy customer. We wonder how quickly this will get around this kids network and more requests come pouring in.

10 Years under a tree

10 Years under a tree

Just when we thought we were going hard with the Mighty Starlet sitting in a front yard for 9 years we go one step further here with this 91 model Mazda 626 which sat in a front yard under a tree for 10 years.

The car came from a deceased estate and was inherited by one of the family members who had no interest in Mazdas.

We came across this car on a drive around and cold called the owner about what they wanted to do with the car. They were very happy to have someone take interest. We came to an agreement and started to photo log the car in situation.

What we found.

The car was sitting on small lino type tiles to stop flat-spotting. (good thinking on whoever parked the car)

The grass creepers had grown the entire length of the underside of the car

Passenger window was down

Steering wheel had a hole in grip

The car was serviced before it was parked

Clear coat was gone off the horizontal surfaces.

Parts needed

  1. Master window switch
  2. Right taillight
  3. Filters
  4. Drive belts
  5. Rear muffler
  6. Paint
  7. Steering wheel cover

    Starting the car

    1. We diluted the stale fuel by adding some fresh fuel into the tank
    2. Connected the Jumper leads
    3. Cranked with the coil lead earthed to get oil pressure then reconnected the coil lead and attempted to start the engine.
    4. The engine took a while to come to life and once again “Start Ya Bastard” was used to get a pulse which worked and the engine came to life
    5. The brake pedal was close to the floor so the rear brakes were the only ones working.
    6. We drove the car under it’s own power from under the tree for the first time in the 10 years.
    7. We towed the car to our driveway workshop to get into the NDG DIY process.

    Step one

    1. Removed all the grass from inside and under the car
    2. Pressure cleaned the car
    3. Wash the car in Mega Gloss wash & Claybar to take a look at the condition of the car.

Classic Bike reforms for the better

Classic Bike reforms for the better

Classic Bike reforms for the better

BSA Motorcycles were a common sight in the height of their production in the UK and were mostly sold, and loved in the British Commonwealth countries.

Nowadays the remaining ones are in the hands of enthusiasts who in most cases don’t just have one but several and they scour the web for parts for sale and for that every more elusive classic barn find. When they do it is cause for huge celebration within their clubs and amongst their friends and peers.

This bike is a 1950’s model BSA 500 Goldstar that usually sits in line with others of similar vintage BSA’s in dusty workshop in Australia.

We did the NDG coating service on this bike during a sunny winter’s day so it gave a strong feel of England’s spring or summer weather setting the stage for what we wanted to achieve.

The results were excellent. It is very hard to capture the results on camera but we can put in a comment from the owner when he returned to see the bike ” Is that the same bike?” That says it all.

Classic Bike reforms for the better

NDG products are excellent for all bikes but are finding the greatest traction in the classic & custom bikes, tourers and adventurer type bikes. They are easy to apply and to re-apply without any special preparation.

Order on line from our dropdown menus.

    What we did.

    1. Dusted the bike off with compressed air.
    2. Mega Gloss washed  the bike
    3. Claybar cleaned all accessible parts
    4. Carried out Hyperseal process
    5. Photographed the sensational results

    Lost, but still very worthy

We were alerted to a car that was iconic as the fleet car of choice in the long country and city roads of Australia. In their day you would be hard pressed not to see at least 1 of these Australian built Mitsubishi Magna’s on any drive anywhere.

Here we have a wagon version of this car. Super versatile with being a very reliable 3.5ltr v6 and fold down flat rear seat made it excellent for travelling sales people to securely transport their samples to show clients.

The cars were good for well over 500,000kms of hammering without more than the normal service items which in this case were very cheap in comparison to other vehicles.

Enough of the preamble and into what we found.

    Lost, but still very worthy
Been a long time since these were cleaned
    Lost, but still very worthy
    8 years of dust

     Lost, but still very worthy

    Lost, but still very worthy
    Engine was dusty but intact.

We found an excellent low milage example of one of these 2001 Australian produced Mitsubishi Magna that had been sitting in the spot we found it for 8 years and was owned by an elderly couple of almost all it’s life. Before coming to rest here the car was a daily commuter and didn’t leave the city of 50,000 population so it idled along.

    The DIY work begins

First thing to do was check the oil and coolant levels and put in a fresh battery to see if it would start. It had a full tank of fuel which would be stale but enough to start the engine.

A few cranks to get the oil pressure up and then we went at a proper start which it did just like it was driven the day before.

4 washes later we had something we could move to the DIY driveway and get on with seeing if we could get the showroom new look using our NDG products.

    4 Mega Gloss Washes later

6 hours were spent on the car to detail it inside and out but it turned out looking brand new. A sensational result!!

The car will head to it’s new owner soon enough and will be a good solid workhorse.

We are tempted to keep this one as a low cost reliable, useful car.

    Outback Desert Testing

    Outback Desert Testing

With all our products we like to test them in the most extreme environments and there is no better place than Outback Australia.

The outback is an area that is known for a very sparse population, including animals that extends for thousands of Kms and miles in all directions.

Basically you are on your own.

    Outback Desert Testing

Our testing was our Hyperseal on a 1014 Toyota Prado that was one of 6 other cars that ventured into the outback.

The timing was not great as the outback had seen a lot of rain which turns a normally ultra dry desert into a series of many thousands of delta type water canals and mud, mud that seems to not end.

This was a great proving ground for our testing which in this car was our hyperseal polish and 2 weeks of punishment.

    Outback Desert Testing

    Outback Desert Testing

    The test was a success.

After 2 weeks in test the Prado was basically clean.  The most noticable part was the windows that were not treated and had turned the typical red dust coating that is so typical of any trip outback.

The owner said” that the mid just beaded up the surface and when it rained just dropped off” and ” none of the others knew of any test coating on his car but all asked why his car seemed so clean” and that ” after driving through the salt bush dunes and being the lead car the typical pinstripes were not there but were on all the other cars, amazing”

    Outback Desert Testing

Hyperseal was tested with the objective of seeing how the product can withstand the rigours of offroad driving.

We didn’t anticipate the extreme weather but we are more than pleased with the results of this test.

Since this time we have seen a good progressive take-up of Hyperseal being used for SUV body work and their accessories.

    Bling my Lawn Mower

    Bling my Mower

    Bling my Mower Challenge

Without sounding a bit Top Gear we are handed these challenges and don’t get a lot of say in what they will be but Bling my Mower is the only way to say this. In all honesty we were thinking something classic as this is what we were told and, our minds went automatically to pre-80’s something but none of us were thinking, LAWN MOWER.

    Ok here we go.

This is a 4 year old Honda Mower that has seen it share of lawn hours and it’s share of neglect from the day it was bought. We are going to “Nano the Hell out of it“, just because we can. Our job is to take it from it’s current condition and make it look new, and remain looking new.

    What is needed:

    1. Deep clean with NDG Bio crystal Magic
    2. Hyperseal treatment
    3. Time & effort

    The results

Well we were all surprised with what we achieved. It really looks new and in fact the owner walked past it thinking it was a new mower that someone else owned.  Not such a stupid idea after-all but we are all thinking that a washing machine will come along soon enough.

    Here are the photo results:

    How to improve on perfection

    How to improve on perfection

    55 Chevy Hyperseal.

We are committed to developing our products to suit the Classic show cars maintenance which is a world of the least amount of times you need to touch, wash and or wax a car the better.

This is where NDG’s Hyperseal and Mega Gloss Wash come into a league of their own. We carried out a training day for the owner of a Classic and Muscle car renovation and High end spray painting business who also built and owns this superb example of a 55 Chevy coupe.

The end result on the Chevy training day was a long lasting super glassy finish, just the way you want it to be.  It looked superb in the late day sun and one of those moments where a picture cannot capture what you are seeing. We did try and some of the pics are below the video.

How to improve on perfection How to improve on perfection How to improve on perfection How to improve on perfection

    Training

After the normal preparation processes we trained the staff of High Gloss Spray Painting how to apply our products to show cars and specialty paint jobs; Mega Gloss Car Wash is a long lasting wash coating that lasts a month on normal use road cars. Show cars several months if not more and has excellent anti static properties to repel electrically charged dust particles. It also has good anti micro scratch properties (when someone leans on the paintwork it usually leaves micro scratches).   Hyperseal Mega Gloss and UV polish which is applied and finished like a normal polish and lasts 12 months on a normal use road car. For show cars 3 years can be achieved. Hyperseal has excellent UV resistance properties and can resist some heavy handling scratches. But the big feature for show cars is that it has a glass like gloss finish.

    Show Car

    • Here is a story of the car winning awards at the Summernats in Canberra.
    • NDG will be supporting this Chevy show car when it attends events.

Some more news on the Chevy.

After the win in Tamworth in May where the car was trailered on an open trailer for 4.5hours, Bill says that he “was surprised that there was no effort in getting the car prepared for the show after the drive”.

We are sure that there will be more news on this car.

Another win for the Chevy with Hyperseal finish.
